Improving Annual Energy Production of Doubly-Fed Induction Generators

Doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind turbines are most employed for onshore applications because of their cost-effectiveness. The drivetrain improvement is barely studied due to the maturity DFIG systems. This paper investigates two methods improving annual energy production (AEP) turbines. They referred as short-circuited and $\bigtriangleup$ -Y-connected DFIGs. origins AEP elaborated from perspective. quantified by aerodynamic model turbine steady-state DFIG. then compared when applied six regions with different speed distributions. improvements at evaluated derive feasibility locations.
